The Magico A3 2027 is a ground-up reimagining of the loudspeaker that introduced countless listeners to the Magico experience. This new three-way, four-driver floorstanding loudspeaker brings a new enclosure, a new crossover, new drivers, and measurement techniques developed for Magico’s M9 flagship into the A3 platform.

Flagship-Level Engineering

The A3 2027 benefits from measurement technology originally developed for Magico’s most ambitious loudspeaker, the M9.

A Laser Vibrometer was used to measure cabinet-panel vibration and quantify the sound pressure generated by the enclosure itself. This allowed Magico’s engineers to determine precisely where additional bracing and damping would have the greatest effect—and then verify the results through measurement.

A Near-Field Scanner (NFS) robot was used to characterize and optimize the A3 2027’s acoustic output across the entire three-dimensional sphere surrounding the loudspeaker. By measuring both on- and off-axis response, Magico was able to refine the design with a level of data and verification unavailable during development of the original A3.

The result is an A3 engineered closer to its acoustic ideal.

Engineered Silence

The A3 2027 incorporates constrained-layer damping (CLD), a technology proven throughout Magico’s S Series, within a completely redesigned enclosure.

Cabinet bracing and bolt placement were optimized using measured structural data. Even the precise location of a brace or fastener can influence the amount of energy radiated by an enclosure, so these elements were engineered rather than simply specified by convention.

The result is a substantially quieter cabinet with a significantly reduced structural signature, allowing the drivers to do more of the work—and the music to emerge with greater clarity.

Sculpted Aluminum Construction

The A3 2027 introduces a dramatically more refined exterior. Every vertical edge is radiused, while the top plate flows seamlessly into the sides. No fasteners are visible, leaving a clean, uninterrupted aluminum surface broken only by the drivers.

The enclosure rests on a precision-machined base that continues the same radiused geometry and incorporates footers specifically designed for the A3 2027. The result is both functional and architectural: smoother cabinet edges reduce diffraction while giving the A3 a sophisticated presence in the listening room.

The aluminum panels are bead-blasted and anodized, creating a fine satin texture that is integral to the metal rather than applied as a surface coating. The A3 2027 is available in Black, Silver, Red, and Blue.

A3 Cone Technology

One of the A3 2027’s most significant advances is found in its midrange and bass drivers.

New manufacturing techniques bring Magico’s latest cone technology to the A3 for the first time. The midrange and woofer cones utilize aluminum-honeycomb cores sandwiched between carbon-fiber skins, combining exceptional rigidity and low mass with the ability to form highly optimized geometries.

The result is greater control and significantly reduced distortion and intermodulation distortion.

Four New Drivers

Every driver in the A3 2027 was designed, modeled, and built specifically for this loudspeaker.

Tweeter Highlights: The 28mm pure-beryllium dome tweeter features an optimized geometry and a new neodymium motor system developed around the A3’s dynamic requirements. An extended linear voice-coil design provides increased excursion and power handling, while advanced FEA modeling and new-generation damping materials further optimize the rear chamber. The result is exceptionally low distortion and high-frequency performance unusual at this price point.

Midrange Highlights: The 5-inch midrange driver employs Magico’s latest cone technology along with a newly formulated, long-life foam surround designed for seamless cone-to-surround integration and exceptionally fast settling time. Its new motor system incorporates a super-stabilized magnetic field, pure titanium voice coil, and pure copper shorting rings to reduce eddy currents and distortion.

Bass Highlights: Two 7-inch woofers employ the same advanced cone geometry as the midrange, combined with highly optimized motor systems featuring a super-stabilized magnetic field, pure titanium voice coils, and pure copper shorting rings.

Magico used state-of-the-art FEA simulation to optimize the woofers for minimal music-related distortion across their operating range in both the frequency and time domains. Acoustic, mechanical, electromagnetic, and thermal behavior were analyzed together to achieve a more comprehensive level of optimization.

Coherence by Design

The A3 2027’s three-way crossover uses an acoustical-target 24dB Linkwitz-Riley slope, designed to maximize frequency and phase linearity while minimizing intermodulation distortion. Magico’s Elliptical Symmetry Crossover techniques are used to control driver resonances, while the network incorporates a full complement of premium components from Mundorf EB GmbH of Cologne, Germany.

The result is a crossover designed to preserve the coherence, transparency, and timing for which Magico is known.

The A3 2027 brings together measurement technology developed for the M9, Magico’s newest cone technology, a completely reengineered cabinet, four newly developed drivers, and a precision crossover network.

The result is not simply an updated A3. It is the A3, completely rethought.
